THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT movie review

The movie is really good even though it’s a remake of a 1972 movie by the same name. Moves pretty fast. Has loads of scary thrills, murder, blood and gore. And, a feel-good overall revenge storyline that would have you saying, “This is what should happen in real life to bad guys!.” Hope I’ve not spoiled it for those of you who are puritans and want to experience the whole movie by yourself (but then, why would you even read a movie review? eh?)

A teenage girl, Mary, (Sara Paxton) and her parents (Tony Goldwyn & Monica Potter) go on vacation to their secluded house in the hills where she finds herself in serious trouble when she finds herself (and her friend) in the clutches of a murderous gang on the run. After leaving one girl dead and the other half-dead, the gang finds refuge in her parents house not realizing what is in store for them once they discover their secret. What follows is murder and mayhem!

Beautifully carried story…very realistically portrayed from all angles though this may not be how normal human beings would react in real life.

UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS movie review

This is another in the series (but this one is a prequel like so many movie makers are doing nowadays) of “Underworld” vampire/werewolf movies but fans will be disappointed not to have Kate Beckingsale in this movie. Also the movie didn’t really make a big impact on me personally.

There are some action scenes that are worth watching but the movie is too hurried and has very little substance in it. Rhona Mitra as “Sonja” looks fabulous as the rebellious daughter of the vampire king Viktor (Bill Nighy), who falls in love with a Lycan slave Lucien (Michael Sheen). The Lycan slave then leads a rebellion against the vampire king. Just too bland a story for my taste.

My advise for people that have to see this movie: wait for the DVD…don’t waste your money to watch it on the big screen.

QUANTUM OF SOLACE movie review

Since Daniel Craig took over as James Bond the series has taken on a new and exciting turn for the better. After multitudes of similar Bond movies, we are finally watching a new revolution. And, it’s important to see this one because I think this begins Bond’s new nemesis, Quantum.

James Bond heads out to find the people that blackmailed Vesper Lynd (Bond’s lady love who went to her watery grave in Casino Royale) and makes the battle very personal. In doing so, he discovers a larger-than-life evil organization hidden from the top intelligence agencies in the world and one particular member of this organization, Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric) who is plotting to control an essential ingredient of every day life in South America.

The difference with Daniel Craig is that he has gone back to the old glorious days of Sean Connery and the “rough and tough” James Bond that is not dependent on gadgets but gets down and dirty and I personally LOVE IT. This is the quintessential James Bond the way I grew up reading Ian Fleming’s books.

Adding to the list of 83 official Bond girls are Olga Kurylenko (on screen as Camille Montes) and Gemma Arterton (on screen as Strawberry Fields)…both possessing the requisite to be a Bond girl…being HOT or HOTTER!!

There you have it…So go out there and ENJOY the movie! Have fun!

THE HAUNTING OF MOLLY HARTLEY movie review

The only reason this movie has reached any level in the box-office revenue is primarily because of teenagers. I went to see the movie and felt really old amongst all the teens there…mostly gilrs. The movie was not bad but not good either. If you have no other movie to watch and you are standing in front of a movie theatre with time to lose, go see it.

The story is about parents selling the souls of their children to save their lives and later regretting it when their children are claimed by the “devil’s disciples” as soon as they turn 18. Molly Hartley is one such girl. She realizes this too late…one day before her 18th birthday…is it too late to save herself? Can she get out of this terrible predicament?

If you ask me, it seemed like being in the devil’s gang was not all that bad. They seemed to be a cool gang. So I guess the movie makers didn’t really dwell too much on WHY it was bad to be in the devil’s disciples.

Some scary scenes, sometimes slow, the movie tends to be an average release. So you decide….

SAW V movie Review

Another Sequel of SAW and you really expect it to be good? If you said yes, you are correct. It is good…in fact SAW might be one of the few movies that has kept us interested in five successful sequels. We thought it was the end of the sequels when we saw Jigsaw being killed but it doesn’t end there. There is an accomplice that is revealed in this part that will blow you away. The first scene in the movie is pretty bloody and gory that my girlfriend was gagging. Definitely not for the squeemish!! New tricks, new games and again…..a surprise ending! Go and See it right away!! It’s really a cool movie.
