It’s the story of a popular stand-up comedian (Adam Sandler) who has a near-death experience… and what he does with a second chance in life. The answer I got from the movie: NOTHING.

Don’t watch it…..don’t waste your money…it’ll be better spent if you go for a stand-up comedy show in your city!!

The movie is extremely depressing and dull and boring. Also starring…Seth Rogen and Leslie Mann.

My rating: 2 stars for some funny moments in the movie (Rated: R Running time: 2 hours, 16 mins.)

ICE AGE: DAWN OF THE DINOSAURS movie review

ICE AGE: Funny movie but I wasn’t that impressed and also maybe the franchise is getting too repetitive and old. Please don’t make another Ice Age for God’s sake!! Kids I guess will love it even if it’s Ice Age: 11th sequel. LOL

The NEW Ice Age is here….and like all other prequels, this one has Scrat looking for his acorn. The twist is that he just might get “lucky” in more ways than one, when he comes across a female squirrel named Scratte. On the other side, Manny and Ellie are expecting a baby; Diego is fed up with being lazy and wants to go on an adventure of his own; Sid wants a family of his own and steals some dinosaur eggs landing them ALL in a new adventure underground with the DINOSAURS!! The addition of a one-eyed weasel known as Buck who hunts dinosaurs intently is a welcome change and a funny one at that.

Watch it and enjoy what might be the last of the series of ICE AGE movies.

TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN movie review

Fantastic, Fabulous, rip-roaring action flick. A must-see for ACTION FANS and especially Transformer fans. Go watch it immediately.

Shia Lebouf is back as Sam to save the world along with Optimus Prime, our most beloved Truck turning into an awesome giant robot!! This time they really took it too far….far, far back into our ancestors. It looks like these “Primes” and”Decepticons” were part of Earth from time immemorial (hard to believe since cars and trucks didn’t exist then!!) but don’t think too much….this is an action movie. Treat it as such.

Of course the sexy foxy Megan Fox is back too. She tries hard to act but who cares? right? She is a sight to see!! Megatron is back seeking revenge and alongwith him is Starscream, a scarier villian that wants to destroy earth and has to be stopped.

From what we all know already, Michael Bay loves to EXPLODE, CRASH, BURN and VAPORIZE things in his movies and in this movie his kiddie enthusiasm for action has been finally realized!! Good going brother!!

If you are an action movie junkie…this is the movie for you. It’s a little too long for my liking but all in all a good movie after a long time.

STREET FIGHTER: THE LEGEND OF CHUN-LI movie review

Before you start reading this review, let me just tell you in as few words as possible what I think of this movie…..IT SUCKS!!

You will have a hard time deciding who is the worst actor of them all. I personally vote for Chris Klein. He can’t act for nuts. Horrible dialogue delivery, bad facial expressions and overall had no role except to be an american man on an all- asian movie.

Anyway, it all explodes in Bangkok, where Bison (who even has a Bison art on the wall) starts taking over the crime empire killing all the crime bosses in the country (Why? and How did he get away with it?) and then goes looking for his daughter who he personally “dug” out of her mom’s stomach killing her mom in the process (Pure HOGWASH…as the britishers like to say!!) His partner-in-crime: Michael Clark Duncan (WHY would he take on a FLOP when he has been doing all those good movies??) Then he drives everyone out of a major slum district, grabbing power and land no matter what the costs to its residents (and has the government on his side……….but where will the slum dwellers go? No thinking please…..if you want to watch this movie!) Chun-Li, a kid that saw her father being kidnapped by Bison, is out to get him alongwith help from her kung fu master, Gen, who was once Bison’s partner, who now fights for the forces of good and Interpol cop Charlie Nash, who has tracked the crime boss all over the world but cannot catch him nor can he act, and finally Nash’s local partner, homicide detective Maya Sunee, who can’t act either but flirts a lot.

HANGOVER movie review

Before I start telling you about the movie, I need to say this: The movie is HILARIOUSLY FUNNY and will have you rolling on the floor!! So if you want to skip this review and head to the theatre…do it now!!

Starts with Doug (Justin Bartha) planning his bachelors party in Vegas with his friends Stu (Ed Helms), a dentist who’s henpecked but plans to marry his girlfriend of three years, Phil (Bradley Cooper), a teacher who’s bored of the married life and Alan (Zach Galifianakis). From there it goes into a hilarious plot that takes you on a laugh riot from the start to the finish. Some really funny scenes to watch for (most of these were shown in the trailer…so not a spoiler!): The tiger in their hotel, Mike Tyson (as himself), Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong), Vegas wedding to a stripper, a baby in the mix etc.

Go see it immediately. It is on the top of the charts even after 2 weeks. Director: Todd Phillips.

THE TAKING OF PELHAM 123 movie review

Really nice movie. Action. Thrills. Strong characters. Good story. My recommendation is to go see it if you have not. John Travolta and Denzel Washington have give stellar performances in this movie.

As you probably already know, this is a remake of the 1974 thriller with the same name. They have basically updated the story to suit the times. Ryder (John Travolta) hijacks a train on the Lexington Avenue line and holds 17 passengers hostage demanding ransom from a lowly employee of the transit authority, Walter Garber (Denzel Washington), who is himself embroiled in a intra-departmental inquiry on bribery charges. Thus starts a tense mental tussle between the two distinctly different opponents through the train’s communication system!

Beautiful portrayal by John Travolta, Denzel Washington and in a small way by James Gandolfini who acts as the Mayor of New York and a supposed replacement of Rudy Guiliani in the post 9-11 city.

NIGHT AT THE MUSUEM: BATTLE OF THE SMITHSONIAN movie review

Really nice animation and amazing characters from the past but that’s where the “good” things I say about this movie stops. I felt it had a lot of repetitions from the prequel and was also very long and drawn out. Though, it’s much better than some of the movies that have been released lately. The kids are sure to have a good time!!

Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) is back to being a Musuem guard giving us all this cock-and-bull about how he is a successful businessman now and all that. Almost seemed like the “As Seen on TV” commercials. There a host of new characters that come alive including Ameilia Earhart (Amy Adams) who even falls in love with him!

The old gang is back too…..Theodore Rosevelt (Robin Williams), Jedediah (Owen Wilson), and Octavius (Steve Coogan). Adding to the line up are Rodin’s “Thinking Man”, Al Capone and Darth Vader. Also there are the usual dinosaurs, birds, animals and insects that come alive too. It left me wondering how the hell do all of them go back in their respective places and be inanimate again? But again, this is a fictional movie that just is there to make you feel good about spending your hard-earned money to make Hollywood rich!!

TERMINATOR SALVATION movie review

The much-awaited sequel to the Terminator series is here. Lots of anticipation surrounded the release of this movie but alas, it didn’t really make my list of amazing movies. It was too much of the “machines” for me. I’m still a sucker for the old Arnold style Terminators because it involved a lot of human and few machines,,,not the other way around!!

Anyway, John Connor (Christian Bale) is back as the leader of the humans and he is aided by Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin) and Blair Williams (Moon Bloodgood) who take on the Skynet evil computer that controls all the machines/robots. Some think he is the ONE and others don’t. That’s how you will end up after watching the movie…liking it or not!! I was definitely on the NOT side. The movie was a little hotchpotch of stories and I got a serious feeling that it was dragged in between to stretch it to it’s current length. The new terminator, Marcus Williams (Sam Worthington) is a human (T-600 or something like that) that doesn’t even realize it is a robot and ends up almost destroying humanity.

Lots of action though too metallic, with too many machines and too few humans. I’d recommend watching it on DVD.

STAR TREK movie review

I went in pretty sceptical having to see one more Star trek movie after years of watching it on TV in my childhood. Yet another attempt at banking on an old classic? But hey! I was pleasantly surprised. It’s indeed a very good movie.

Captain James Kirk (Chris Pine…..not the one that goes by the name “Negotiator” on Priceline!!) and Spock (Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy from the old series as his time travelled self) start out in this movie as kids showing their traits while they were growing up and then landing up together on the same starship first as bitter enemies later turning into friends for life!!

Loads of exciting adventure. Lots of action, fight scenes, explosions and everything else that makes Star Trek series so popular. Supporting them are a host of stars like Eric Bana (as Nero), Zoe Saldana (Uhura), Simon Pegg (“Beam me up, Scotty!” fame Scotty himself), Karl Urban (Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy), Anton Yelchin (Chekov), John Cho (Hikaru sulu) and Bruce Greenwood (Capt. Pike).

Directed by JJ Abrams, who was not even a fan of Star Trek and had not seen it before!! Admirable job nevertheless!!

My recommendation: Go watch it in a theater…you can’t get the same effect anywhere else!!
